Expectations
DRESSING OUT
- You may purchase PE clothes from us all year or you may bring your own.
- If using your own clothes, they must not have any kind of logo or writing on them and the shirt and sweats must be grey, and the shorts must be green.
- Athletic shoes are needed everyday! No flip flops/Mary Jane’s/sandals, etc…

CURRICULUM
- Physical Education classes are divided by grade level:
- 6th grade – skills and cooperative games – throwing, kicking, striking, volleying, dribbling, passing, weight room, swimming, track field, etc…
- 7th grade – individual and dual sports – badminton, tennis, ping pong, pickleball, golf, weight room, swimming, track field, etc…
- 8th grade – team sports – basketball, soccer, hockey, flag football, field hockey, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, weight room, swimming, track field, etc…
SWIMMING
- All classes will be using our pools for a swimming unit at the beginning and at end of the year.
- Students will need to bring the following:
- An appropriate swim suit
- Shirts and shorts may be worn over suit, not their PE clothes
- Jean material of any kind is not permitted in the pool
- Towel
- Plastic Bag
- An appropriate swim suit
- If students are unable to swim due to illness or menstrual cycle, please send a written note to their PE teacher listing when the student may swim again.
GRADING
P.E. (Physical Education) is an activity class and to get a passing grade you must be in class and participate. (The only excused absence is a school sponsored event/testing/class)
Student earn 20 points per day.

- Warm-ups
- etc...
- 10 points for dressing out
- Proper athletic shoes
- Green shorts/grey T-shirt (or any South Valley T-shirt) and when cold grey sweats
A sportsfolio is required in PE class. 100 points for having it, then periodically checks throughout the year.
- Sportsfolio is a 3 ring binder with notebook paper, pen or pencil, and a pencil/pen holder (could be a ziploc baggie hole punched).
- We do journaling on Tuesday's and Thursday's on fitness related issues and if they are not swimming on a swim day, we will ask them to do some writing.
- We also give handouts just for PE that they need to keep in their sportsfolio.
- All PE teachers require a sportsfolio.
